Imagine Feeling Free from Overwhelming Stress…
Do you remember a time when you were not stressed, overwhelmed, or burdened with the everyday pressure of modern life?
Modern life tends to be fast, full of activities and tasks needing to be done regularly. As a result, modern life sometimes may not leave much time to rest and recharge if too hectic.
Do you find yourself in a constant rush, eating on the run, rushing to get the kids to after-school activities, or getting to work on time?
Rushing around and trying to accomplish the myriad tasks can trigger the innate fight or flight response.
This fight or flight response generates stress hormones. The stress hormones can create havoc in the body if continuous and chronic over a period of time.
You see, the fight or flight response is generated to keep us safe from an acute (short-term) event, like being chased by an animal or needing to jump out of the way of an oncoming car. You see, the event is short-lived, and the body stops producing stress chemicals after the event…..
But now, think of your routines – are you constantly rushing and on the go? Do you find that you work under stress to get your tasks done?
While we cannot change the current world…..
It’s about being able to live life in this fast-paced world without burning out.
I see so many women that are overburdened, overstressed and undernourished.
You might be thinking, how can a person be undernourished in these current times with all the available plethora of foods around?
Well, it could be that a person eats on the run, or has a jam-packed to-do list and continues to push themselves to complete the list without rest, or they might put everyone else first and neglect to nourish themselves.
Any of this sound familiar?
The fight-or-flight response initiates changes in the body. These changes can include:
- Reduction of digestive processes – why would you want to digest your food if a tiger was chasing you?
- Immune imbalance – again, if a tiger was chasing you, your resources are best redirected from fighting viruses and bacteria to blood flow to the heart, lungs and muscles
- Hormone imbalance – stress hormones are produced from the same base compounds as the reproductive hormones, so all the ingredients are utilised to create cortisol and adrenaline
- Creates nutritional deficiencies – extra nutrients are required to drive your flight-or-fight stress response. Nutrients such as B-group vitamins, zinc, magnesium, and vitamin C are utilised in larger quantities to drive the cellular reactions required.
- The thyroid becomes overwhelmed and underactive
- The adrenals become burdened and ultimately, if not addressed, can lead to adrenal fatigue
The thyroid and the adrenals become overburdened and consequently display symptoms of dysfunction. These symptoms can indicate if you are overburdened, overstressed and undernourished.
Listening to your body can help indicate the status of your body……
Do you experience any of these symptoms?
- Anxiety, Depression, or Mood swings
- Irregular menstrual cycle, painful periods, changes to the flow of period
- Digestive issues such as flatulence, bloating, constipation or diarrhoea
- Fatigue (no matter how much sleep you get)
- Sugar cravings, especially mid-afternoon
- Recurrent infections
- Sensitivity to cold temperatures
- Low libido
- Putting on weight and don’t know why…..
If you have answered YES to many of the above, now is the time to take action. Take action to take control of your life rather than being reactive to each day. So why not take control now……
HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Schedule time for yourself: Discover a hobby that can support relaxation and recharging time for you. Find an activity that excites and interests you. It may be an activity like painting, colouring, listening to music, or reading a book. The list is endless and different for everyone.
- Take time to nourish yourself: Make time in your day to nourish your body. For example, take specific time to sit and eat in a relaxed setting to allow your digestion to digest the foods. Eating on the run can lead to bloating and nutritional deficiencies.
- Eat the rainbow: While taking time to eat in a relaxed setting, ensure that your food is nutritious. To do this, eat the rainbow of colours from fruits and vegetables. Prepare meals based on a variety of vegetables and add meat/chicken/fish/eggs/nuts/beans or other extras to compliment the nutritious vegetables.
- Check your Thyroid and Adrenal health: are you suffering from any of the symptoms above? Take some time to investigate and balance the function of these two organs. They are vital for you to feel energised and happy again.
- Meditation: Schedule time for regular meditation or other activity such as journaling. Mediation is a great way to calm an overactive mind. Studies have shown that regular meditation over 8 weeks positively affects stress, anxiety and moods. It can be as little as 10 to 15 minutes a day.
Making these tips part of your regular routine can have significant ripple effects in your life.
Want to live more in flow, want to control your life (instead of it controlling you), want to feel vital and energised again?…….. Take steps now to make positive changes now…….
So you can be there for your family and friends, but ultimately you can be there for yourself!
Let’s end this perpetual stress cycle that many women are experiencing.
I’d love to be part of your transformation and be able to assist you to achieving your goals!
