Your Health Starts With a Good Breakfast

Home | Your Health Starts With a Good Breakfast

Breakfast is our first meal of the day. It is also the meal which kick starts our energy and keeps us going. Skipping breakfast has been discouraged by many fitness and health experts especially doctors for many years now. It is always advisable to eat a hearty filling breakfast whatever your age is.

But if you want to maintain a healthy diet from breakfast to dinner, then being conscious of what you eat is a must. Even if you want to pump that energy by eating a big meal during breakfast, this meal should still be nutritious and not full of unwanted calories and harmful food chemicals.

A naturopath clinic is the best place to get advice on which foods are good for breakfast and for providing your needed energy for the day. Naturopath experts on the Gold Coast and other places mostly recommend meals which consist of natural fruits, vegetables and whole grains which all have been proven to give the body the complete nutrition it needs to get up and go for the rest of the day.

Below is a list of ingredients you may want to try incorporating in your breakfast meals to bring that zing into your day.

Rolled Oats
Rolled oats are filling and can be mixed with fruits, honey and almond or sunflower seeds. Rolled oats are full of fibre which is essential in helping reduce bad cholesterol levels in the body. Though rolled oats take longer to cook than instant oats, the nutritional value from it is worthwhile. It also has vitamin b1 which is vital for preventing inflammation of the nerves and for boosting the immune system. Rolled oats also has iron which boosts the energy of the body by regulating cell growth and development. It is also a natural antioxidant which again boosts the immune system and protects the cells of the body from damages caused by free radicals like those from cigarette smoke.

Berries
Berries like cranberries, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries can all be eaten during breakfast. These can be mixed with nuts, seeds and cornflakes. There have been many studies proving that eating berries improve the health of the brain. This is because berries have high-levels of antioxidants which improve the neuron connections in the brain. When the brain is healthy, you can expect that the body will respond positively as well, especially when it comes to your motor skills.

Berries are also packed with Vitamin C and other minerals like calcium and magnesium making the immune system, bones and tissues stronger. Plus these fruits are very low in calories but completely tummy-filling so they are ideal for a yummy morning meal.

Organic Butter, Eggs and Chicken
Organic food is generally said to be safer to eat than conventionally grown food. This is because these have not been treated with pesticides and other food additives. Butter, eggs and chicken are good sources of protein, calcium, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K, vitamin D, iodine, selenium and a lot of other minerals. All these contribute to good body metabolism, a healthy and strong heart, healthy joints and muscles, good eyesight, clear skin, and strong bones and teeth. Using these organic ingredients in cooking up your first meal of the day will not only give you the drive and vitality to do your daily activities but you are also ensured that you have eaten a nutritious, clean meal. Yes, it may cost a bit more than conventionally grown food but it helps you reduce both the cholesterol in your body and your medical expenses.
