These stones are solid masses of dissolved minerals, they can be in the kidney or in the ureter or both. Kidney stones form when urine is too concentrated with too much of these dissolved minerals. They combine together to form the crystal called a stone. Stones can be made up of different types of minerals and the type of mineral dictates the treatment regime.
Symptoms occur when the stone begins to move down the ureter (the tube that connects the kidney to the bladder). The stone can cause a blockage of the tube and cause swelling and pain. Sometimes the stones are small enough to be voided on their own but sometimes lithotripsy or surgery is required to remove the stones. Kidney stones are generally recurrent so once a person has them once, chances are that they will reoccur unless steps are taken to manage the causes.
Natural therapies can be undertaken to correct the causes of the kidney stones. Adequate hydration is essential and nutritional correction of issues that include excess sugar and carbonated drinks are required. If you have suffered from kidney stones before then it is advised to find out the causes of your type of kidney stone. Our CRP pain relief program can help to reduce the pain associated with kidney stones.
