Constipation is a condition where a person has difficulty expelling hard faeces. This usually happens because the large intestine absorbs too much water from the food. If the food moves through the intestinal system too slowly, the large intestine (or colon) can absorb too much water causing the faeces to become dry and hard. Factors that can contribute to constipation can include: intestinal parasites, dehydration &/or low fluid intake, candida, some medication, stress, low fibre diets, and food allergies. A lack of movement such as exercise can also contribute to constipation.
Adjustments to a person’s diet can help the body to eliminate toxins and reduce the toxin production. Herbal remedies and a bowel detox program can help the bowel to clean out any remnants left in the intestines. Increasing the fluid intake to 2 litres of water a day and enjoying regular exercise such as walking is highly recommended to assist in aiding the intestines to eliminate.
